This Seismic review course will prepare the participants for the special seismic exam for California Civil PE. The course will explain the seismic design of buildings and structures as required by the California Building Code CBC 2022-Part 2, Vol. 2 which is based on 2018 IBC and ASCE 7-16. Course video descriptions follow the chapters from Dr. Mansours book Seismic Design for Professional License, 5^th ed.

• Seismic legislation and the Professional Engineers Act
• Loads, load combinations, design philosophies (ASD, SD/LRFD), structural analysis, and stresses
• Nature, characteristics, and classification of earthquakes
• Vibration theory, response of structures to vibration, stiffness, and rigidity
• Seismic data, seismic design criteria, and seismic forces (V, E, E_h, E_v, F_p)
• CBC 2022/ IBC 2021, ASCE 7-16, ATC 20, and ATC 20-1. Codes seismic requirements for building structures, non-structural components, and non-building structures
• Diaphragm theory, horizontal diaphragms, and shear walls per SDPWS 2015
• Seismic requirements for foundations and retaining walls
• Details of seismic requirements for concrete, wood, steel, tilt-up construction, and masonry structures
• Damage and retrofit of existing structures per ATC 20, and ATC 20-1
• Seismic detailing, inspection, structural tests, and quality control
